Terms
Terms of Service
Effective August 29, 2026
These terms apply when you use the ArborLibre website and public-beta application. By using ArborLibre, you agree to them.
1. The service
ArborLibre is a free, local-first public beta for creating and maintaining tree books. It can help you record trees, observations, photographs, coordinates, maps, reports, and backups.
Features may change, contain errors, produce incomplete results, or be interrupted. Keep current backups and verify important records, measurements, locations, identifications, and exports before relying on them.
2. Your records and backups
You retain responsibility for the information and files you enter. ArborLibre normally stores the only working copy in browser storage on your device; it does not provide an account-based cloud recovery service.
You are responsible for downloading and safely storing current backup ZIPs. Clearing browser data, changing browsers or devices, storage eviction, device loss, software failure, or removal of the app can permanently erase the collection. ArborLibre cannot restore data you did not back up.
3. Acceptable use
You may use ArborLibre for lawful personal, educational, community, or professional recordkeeping. You agree not to:
- use the service to violate another person’s privacy, property rights, or applicable law;
- upload, distribute, or record content you do not have the right to use;
- interfere with the service, probe it for abuse, or use it to distribute malicious code; or
- misrepresent an ArborLibre record or report as a professional certification when it is not one.
4. Maps and third-party services
Map tiles, external map links, and any service you choose to use with an ArborLibre export are supplied by third parties under their own terms. ArborLibre does not control their availability, accuracy, or privacy practices. Verify coordinates before relying on them for important work.
5. Not professional or emergency advice
ArborLibre documents observations. It does not diagnose tree health, certify species, identify every hazard, establish property boundaries, guarantee GPS accuracy, or replace a qualified arborist, surveyor, attorney, emergency service, or on-site inspection. If a tree may pose an immediate danger, keep people away and contact appropriate local professionals or emergency services.
6. Public-beta disclaimer
ArborLibre is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, data preservation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or compatibility with every browser or device. To the extent allowed by law, the people providing ArborLibre are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-data damages arising from use of the service.
Some places do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
7. Changes and contact
These terms may change as ArborLibre develops. When practical, important changes will be communicated in the app or on ArborLibre’s public site. The effective date above identifies the current version; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. For questions, use the contact channel published with ArborLibre.
